Bayou Funk, Rock and Psychedelica at its finest!

The Low Heavies is a funky, soulful, groove machine based out of Tampa, Florida.

The Low Heavies formed in 2019 when a group of seasoned musicians, transplants from all over the country, expressed a mutual love for all things funky. They started to regularly convene at a local rehearsal studio. The chemistry was immediate, the vibe casual and the grooves were tight. Drawing upon many collective influences, the band built their repertoire as they jammed through funky classics by the likes of The Meters, Parliament Fundadelic, The Grateful Dead, John Scofield, Herbie Hancock, The Isley Brothers, The Temptations and many more.

The band was soon ready for liftoff, only to have the launch aborted by the Covid-19 pandemic. They managed to play a pair of gigs at The Ringside Cafe and The Blue Note just before the lockdown. The Low Heavies, like many others bands that had no ability to perform live, shifted their energy into writing original music and recording.

In 2020, their first release came to fruition. A CD with four original songs and one cover became available through Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music and Pandora. The band has continued writing and is close to returning to the studio to record a follow up CD.

The band is currently focusing on playing live and booking future events at venues that traditionally cater to the Florida jam/funk scene. They are also interested in playing the many famous music festivals that Florida (and beyond) has to offer. The Low Heavies dish out tight, groovy, high energy, vibey, real deal funky good time music!
